Future growth drives new hospitals

In order to meet increased community need and comply with strict new seismic safety standards Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital will undergo a massive reconstruction project scheduled to be completed by 2013.

The Bay Area is experiencing tremendous growth. Its population will grow by about 2 million people to 9 million total by 2035, according to the Association of Bay Area Governments. The new Hospitals will be able to meet this growth while providing state-of-the-art facilities for patients.

“State-mandated seismic safety laws, a critical shortage of beds, increasing patient needs, undersized facilities, and the need to adapt to changing technologies that will further new advances in medical care require Stanford and the community to work together to meet the healthcare needs of Palo Alto and the region.”
